What happens when you stop by?
During regular business hours, you can stop by our Bellingham shop without an appointment for a complimentary check-engine light scan and initial triage. We retrieve stored trouble codes, explain what they may indicate, and discuss possible causes and next steps.
A trouble code is a clue, not a complete answer. Code retrieval alone may not identify the cause or tell us which part, if any, needs repair. We use the information and your description of the symptoms to decide whether a straightforward repair can be estimated, more investigation is appropriate, or a simple concern can be addressed.

When the cause is still uncertain, we explain the scan findings, discuss possible causes, quote an initial amount of investigation time, and seek your approval before that work begins.
A simple concern may be resolved
Occasionally a simple issue, such as a loose gas cap, can be addressed during the visit. When appropriate, we may correct it and clear the warning light. We cannot promise that every light can be cleared or resolved immediately.
WHEN A CODE IS ONLY THE START
Investigation leads to a repair plan.
Subaru engine, electrical, and drivability concerns may need testing beyond code retrieval. If further investigation is needed, we explain why, quote an initial amount of investigation time, and obtain your approval before proceeding.
- We review the scan findings, symptoms, and relevant vehicle history with you.
- After you approve the quoted investigation time, we investigate the concern and explain what we learned.
- When the findings support it, we develop a repair plan and estimate for your approval before repair work.
- If a reliable plan requires additional investigation, we explain why and obtain approval for that additional time first.

When should I stop driving?
A flashing check-engine light, severe misfire, overheating, loss of power, or other serious symptoms may mean it is unsafe to continue. Stop somewhere safe and contact us at 360-325-7824 before driving to the shop; arrange a tow when needed. A scan alone cannot establish whether a vehicle is safe to drive.

Will the scan tell me exactly what is wrong?
Sometimes the next repair is clear from the initial triage, but a trouble code does not always identify the actual cause. We will explain what the code may indicate and whether more investigation is needed.
What if the problem needs further investigation?
We explain the findings and why testing is needed, quote an initial amount of investigation time, and get your approval. We review what we learn and develop a repair plan when enough information is available. Additional investigation, if necessary, is explained and approved separately.
Can you clear my check-engine light?
If a simple concern is appropriately resolved during the visit, we may clear the light. We do not promise to clear every warning light; understanding the concern and an appropriate next step comes first.
What if my check-engine light is flashing?
Stop driving when it is safe to do so. A flashing light or serious symptoms may indicate a concern that can worsen with continued driving. Call us before bringing the vehicle in, and arrange a tow when needed.
Can I schedule work after the scan?
Yes. If a repair can be estimated or more investigation is needed, we can discuss a scheduled visit. You can also request service online; the appointment is confirmed when our team contacts you.
